11.12.10 - Today I Made ... progress on my green turkey hat.

Green turkey?!?  Hat!?!  Not as crazy as you might think, according to dictionary.com:

tur·key [tur-kee] –noun, plural -keys
1. a large, gallinaceous bird of the family Meleagrididae, esp. Meleagris gallopavo,
of America, that typically has green, reddish-brown, and yellowish-brown plumage of a metallic luster and that is domesticated in most parts of theworld.

A friend and I are going to take part in a 5K walk on Thanksgiving morning and the race organizers are encouraging people to dress up.  So I found some felt turkey feathers in browns, golds, greens and reds and am making roll brim beanies for each of us.  I will attach the feathers to the back of the beanies and then put on a couple of woggly eyes and a beak to the front.

Her hat is a lovely rust color while mine will be green. (see photo)  I chose green because it's a color you rarely see in turkeys and because one of the feathers is green.  And because I love the color green.

I've reached the part where I will start decreasing to make the crown.  Exciting times!

I will post a photo when both hats are complete.
